Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster Smart Diodes on a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Adding diode wiring to a flat towed vehicle is slowly becoming kind of a requirement. A lot of times you see flat towed vehicles with the magnetic lights and you have to drape those wires up. Well, nowadays you can tie into the factory taillights and that way when you plug into your 6-pole to the seventh via the umbilical you're gonna get all the same light sequences from the RV. So as you brake, use your turn signals, use your running lights, it's all gonna transmit to the back of your vehicle letting people know what you're indicating to do. more

Now, this is going to be available in a few different kits. Today we just use the bare wire without an umbilical, but you can also pick it up with a few different styles of umbilical if you need one, including a straight cable, a hybrid cable, or a coiled cable. You can also get your wiring with a four-pole end attached. Now, all of this is going to give you the same function of transmitting the light sequence from the RV to the taillights on the vehicle. more

Demco 4-Diode Universal Towed Vehicle Wiring Kit Installation - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Demco Diode Wiring for Towed Vehicles on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now there's five main components required when flat towing a vehicle and starting on the vehicle side, it's gonna be your base plate. And base plate is going to attach to the structural frame or at least bumper supports of a vehicle, creating a solid mounting point. It's also gonna create other mounting points for your other components, including your tow bar. So your tow bar's gonna attach to the arms and that's gonna be the connection point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV. Now going along with that, we also have our safety chains and that's going to make sure in case of a disconnect, we still have the cables attached to the vehicle. more

So we got the left turn signal going on our motor home and it's transferring it back here to our Equinox. And that'll hold true for the right turn, our taillights, and our brake lights, so we'll have all of our bases covered there. Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit for towed vehicles on a 2020 Chevrolet Spark. Now your diode wiring is simply going to run from a 6-pole in the front of the vehicle back to the taillights where we tie into the factory wiring. And what that means is we can simply just plug in our umbilical and it's gonna receive those light sequences from the RV. So if you plan on flat towing your vehicle more than a few times a year, this is a nice easy way to do it. And also having a 6-pole up front means that you can tie in other accessories like a charge line with a 12 volt power supply. So it does have some benefits. more

Tow Ready Tail Light Isolating Diode System Installation - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Tow Ready diode wiring for a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now your base plate is gonna be one of five main components required for flat towing your vehicle, and the base plate creates a structural support that mounts to the frame of the vehicle allowing you to hook up to your towbar. And your towbar is the connection point between the towed vehicle and the RV. Now there's also gonna be your safety cables, which are gonna attach to that base plate and they're integrated into it, and that's also going to attach to the hitch on the RV. So in case we do have a disconnect, we still have those cables holding everything together. Now you're also gonna need a braking system which is gonna allow you to slow and stop, have that towed vehicle do the same thing as you apply those brakes on the RV. more

Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit Installation - 2018 Ford Edge- Video
Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at Etrailer. And today, we're taking a look at installing the Hopkins plug-in diode wiring on a 2018 Ford Edge. Normally, when it comes to diode wiring, you are having to cut into the wires of the brake lights and tie in those diodes using spade connectors, and Hopkins kind of made this easy for us because it's simply plug-in. So it's kind of like hooking up trailer wiring, it just snaps into factory-like connections, you run your wiring up to the front and you can tie that in using either the included four-pole that's attached or we used a six-pole on ours. And diode wiring is gonna send the light signal from the RV through the umbilical to the taillights on the vehicle and that way, you can get your turn signals, your brake lights, as well as your running lights. And that's just gonna keep you safe and legal while flat towing your vehicle. more

Roadmaster Smart Diode Wiring Kit Installation - 2022 Chevrolet Spark- Video
Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster diode wiring kit on a 2022 Chevy Spark. Now I have the hazards on my RV, and you can see it's mimicking on the tail lights of our vehicle. And if you've ever seen a flat towed vehicle before, sometimes you may notice they have those magnetic lights that are on here, and that means you're draping a wire all the way up to the front. Now they have wireless options as well, but that's one more component that you have to tag along with all of the rest of your equipment, where diode wiring really makes it easy to just plug into the front, you're also gonna get some 12 volt power supply generally from a 6-pole, so it's really nice to be able to just plug in and have these ready to go. And what it's gonna do is just run from the 7-pole on your RV, through the 6-pole, and you're gonna have wire running back to your tail lights where you tie into diodes, and that way you can mimic your running lights, your brake lights, as well as your turn signals, and that's gonna keep you safe and legal and let the people behind you know what you're indicating to do. Now it's pretty easy, you are gonna be pulling your tail light out and then tying in to that factory wiring, and it's just a couple spade connectors that you'll be attaching, and really the hardest part is running your wire all the way up to the front of the vehicle. more

Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Hopkins Plug and Play Towed Vehicle Wiring Kit on a 2016 Ford F-150. Now, diode wiring is a really nice thing to have if you plan on flat towing quite often, and that's because a lot of other vehicles that you see flat towed, you're gonna see some magnetic lights that are stuck here, and a lot of times you can get wireless ones, but sometimes you have to run a cable all the way to the RV, and diode wiring is just nice, because when you plug in your umbilical, not only can you send 12 volt power through there to a charge line if you want to, but also you're gonna mimic all the turn signals, running lights, and brake lights on the towed vehicle. Now this kit is particularly nice, because this is plug and play. Now most diode wiring that I've seen throughout all the flat tow installations, you're chopping into the factory taillight wiring and splicing in spade connectors on a diode, not this one. This one plugs into the tow package on this F-150, making it super easy to just run your wire up to the front, and you're pretty much ready to go. Obviously, the best part, or the reason you would install diode wiring is because your vehicle pretty much becomes a trailer when you're flat towing it. more

Today, on our 2015 GMC Acadia, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Roadmaster diode wiring kit, but before we get into that, let me check it out and make sure it worked for you. Before we jump right in, I figured it'd be useful just to kind of touch base and refresh yourselves on the main components that we're gonna need to flat tow our Acadia down the road in the first place, and the first part is gonna be the base plate. That's gonna provide us with a solid and reliable attachment point. That way we can hook our towbar up to it. So, the towbar will be the second component that's gonna plug into the front of your base plate and connect to the back of your motor home. more

Roadmaster Universal Diode Wiring Kit Installation - 2022 Ford F-150- Video
Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Diode Flat Tow Wiring Harness here on a 2022 Ford F-150. So the wiring harness is just one of the many things that we need in order to successfully flat tow our F-150 here. In addition to this, we're gonna need a base plate kit, a tow bar, safety cables, and a supplemental braking system. Now what our wiring is gonna do is, simply put, it's gonna transfer these signals from our motor home to our vehicle here so we can let other motorists out in the road know what signals are gonna be making. Keep in mind this is a legal requirement in every state because a lot of the times, your vehicles are actually gonna block the taillights on your motor home. So we need a safe way to communicate those signals to other motorists allowing us to arrive to our destinations safe and sound. more

Roadmaster Universal Diode Wiring Kit Installation - 1989 Jeep YJ- Video
Hi there, Jeep owners. Today on your 1989 Jeep Wrangler YJ, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's Diode Wiring Kit. And the main reason for installing diodes here at the back, it'll allow all your motor home signals to come from your motor home's seven-way connector and illuminate this light. But if you we're to just wire it up without diodes, it would not only illuminate the light, but it would also backfeed on your circuitry and potentially damage components on the vehicle. The diodes act is a one-way check file for electricity that will let it go from our motor home to our light, but it will not let it go back down our factory wiring and effect anything on our vehicle. We've got the hazard lights on in our motor home. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit here on a 2018 Ford Fiesta. So, a diode wiring kit, or just a flat tow wiring kit is gonna be one of the required component we're gonna need to remain legal when flat towing our vehicle. So, the wiring kit's pretty self explanatory. It's gonna transfer these signals from our motorhome to our towed vehicle, to let others out on the road know our signals. Because obviously sometimes we not necessarily see the lights on the motorhome. The towed vehicle could be blocking these. more

Roadmaster Smart Diodes Installation - 2019 Chevrolet Equinox- Video
Hi there, Equinox owners. Today, on your 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's smart diodes for incandescent bulbs. Roadmaster's smart diodes for incandescent bulbs will allow you to tap into the wiring on your existing lighting circuits on your vehicle and be able to add a couple of additional circuits to it that you can run up to a connector at the front of the vehicle and plug into your motor home. This is really nice for flat tow setups because with a flat tow, you have to have your lights working here at the back to remain DOT-compliant in all states. And it's important that people know your intentions when you're driving down the road. And this is gonna be blocking your motor home when you're pulling it behind it, so this way, we get all those signals there and keeps everybody safe and legal. more

Roadmaster Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights Wiring Kit Installation - 2022 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster Smart Diodes for towed vehicles on a 2022 Jeep Cherokee. Your Smart Diodes are going to tie into the lights on your vehicle and via wires running up to the front attached to a six-pole. And that way, when you hook your umbilical cord up to your RV, it's gonna transmit your light signals. So, when you have your running lights on, your turn signals or brake lights, it's gonna illuminate these and that's gonna keep you safe and legal, letting people behind you know what you're doing. Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2011 Jeep Patriot- Video
Hi there, Jeep owners, today in your 2011 Jeep Patriot, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's diode wiring kit. All the components are gonna be hidden behind your taillight assembly, so you're really not gonna notice any modifications to the vehicle. They tap directly into the factory lighting circuits and they act as a one-way check valve that only lets current flow one direction to the bulbs, but it can't back feed. And this allows us to add the additional wiring for our motor home so that when we plug into our motor home, we can send all the lighting signals from our motor home to the same factory lights here on our vehicle, so that way, these will also illuminate, letting people know our intentions when we're going down the road. And when those signals come up the wires from our motor home, it'll light the bulb, but the diode prevents it from going back down the factory wiring, causing any damage to the vehicle. This is my personal favorite way to get lighting set up on your flat tow set up 'cause some of the other options, well, for example, like the Blue Ox or the Demco diodes, their diodes just don't seem to be as robust as the Roadmaster ones, these ones have a very large heat sink on them to dissipate heat and they just seem to work very well. more
